Joey Williams, WorldTeach Ecuador volunteer 2012 –
I don’t want to harp too much on destiny but being in Ecuador as a part of WorldTeach, I have never felt like I was “supposed” to be somewhere so strongly. On top of my volunteer commitment to The Technical University of Machala (UTM), I have been able to offer myself as a volunteer in another area of need. Getting involved in the community is a great way to open your mind and find yourself. That is what is happening to me.
NYEEI Staff Join ORV to Help Restore Vision
Several members of The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary’s professional staff have joined the International Surgical Mission Support’s “Operation Restore Vision (ORV),” whose objective is to bring back vision, prevent blindness and repair eye deformities in patients in poor and underdeveloped countries. The initiative provides comprehensive ophthalmic surgery services for free and trains local medical professionals to carry on its work.
